City of Slunj is situated on the state highway Zagreb-Karlovac-Slunj-Plitvice lakes-Zadar-Split.You will get to Rastoke and Slunj if you go from Karlovac to Plitvice lakes, but you must be careful because if you take Zagreb-Split highway you will miss destination which undoubtedly must visit. If you go from Zagreb, you must take off from highway in Karlovac and follow the signs toward to Plitvice lakes. Slunj is distant from Zagreb 100 km, and from Karlovac 50 km. A distance from Slunj to Plitvice lakes is 33 km. Slunj was first time mensioned in 12th century, about stormly past times testifying the walls of Napoleon's depository. Water mill settlement Rastoke grew up among green and blue waters of the river Slunjcica where water falling down ove sedimentory rocks into the river Korana making great number of waterfalls, small lakes, rapids and cascades. Beside all its natural beauty, Slunj and Rastoke give numerous possibilities of vacation and leisure especialy for fishermen and hunters, swimmers, bicyclists and sympatizers of rowing on a calm and wild waters.
